Where this mapping comes from
Descriptor letters and point values are reproduced from Schedule 1 of the Social Security (Personal Independence Payment) Regulations 2013. The activities listed are the ones whose published assessment guidance names the functions this condition is reported to affect. No activity is listed on any other basis.
Activities are numbered as Schedule 1 numbers them, within each component: daily living 1 to 10 and mobility 1 to 2.

Can You Get PIP for Crohn's Disease?
Yes, where Crohn's disease limits the assessed activities on more than half of the days over a 12-month period. No condition qualifies by name, and none is excluded by name either. The two tests are duration — difficulties expected to last at least 12 months from when they started — and frequency, which GOV.UK states as difficulty "more than half of the days over a 12-month period".
What Rate Could Crohn's Disease Get?
The rate follows the points in each component separately. Daily living pays £76.70 a week at the standard rate and £114.60 at the enhanced rate. Mobility pays £30.30 and £80.00, and the highest combined award is £194.60 a week.

For this condition the points most often come from managing toilet needs, where a stoma counts as incontinence and scores 6 or 8 points.
What the Guidance Actually Says About Toilet Needs
Managing toilet needs is the highest-scoring activity in most Crohn's claims, and the assessment guidance on it is more favourable than claimants are usually told. Needing assistance to manage incontinence of either bladder or bowel scores 6 points; of both, 8 points. The guide states plainly that "claimants with indwelling (permanent) catheters or stoma are considered incontinent for the purposes of this activity".
Two further points in the guidance change outcomes. The first is about tolerance: "People may tolerate incontinence without seeking help, it's possible that they have accepted this as a normal part of having children or the aging process and purchase their own pads, in which case 5b would apply." Buying your own pads is evidence of a need, not evidence that there is no need. The second is about diagnosis: "There is no requirement for claimants to have a formal diagnosis, but there should be enough evidence to be confident that the reported needs are consistent."
Urgency has a defined home. The guide directs that where there is a bladder or bowel problem and the claimant "will be incontinent before they reach the toilet, then a commode could be considered as an aid for the bladder condition (toilet needs) not for the mobility problem". Distance to the toilet is not the question; control is.
Nutrition is the activity most often missed. Where a therapeutic source — enteral tube feeding using a delivery system or feed pump — is needed, descriptor 2c applies at 2 points, and needing assistance to manage it scores 6. Evidence That Supports a Crohn's Disease Claim
Evidence that names the activity beats evidence that names the diagnosis. Every descriptor above 0 points already assumes the condition is present.
- A gastroenterology clinic letter confirming the diagnosis and the disease extent
- A record of biologic or immunosuppressant treatment, including infusion dates and where they are given
- A stoma care record or a list of supplied continence products
- A record of surgery — resection, stoma formation or reversal — completed or planned
- A dietitian's letter where enteral feeding or a prescribed diet is in place
- A dated log over four to six weeks recording urgency episodes, accidents and the activities they prevented
