The Short Answer

PIP rates change each April, and a backdated period is priced at the rate in force at the time. The tool above compares any two published benefit years for your award, so a multi-year window can be priced segment by segment. It does not project a future year: uprating figures are published each autumn for the following April, and until then the next year's rates do not exist.

What Changed in April 2026

The table below sets out the position, with each figure taken from the source named beneath it.

Rate2025/262026/27Weekly increase
Daily living standard£73.90£76.70£2.80
Daily living enhanced£110.40£114.60£4.20
Mobility standard£29.20£30.30£1.10
Mobility enhanced£77.05£80.00£2.95

For someone on both components at the enhanced rate that is £7.15 a week more, or £28.60 every four weeks. Uprating applies automatically to awards in payment — nothing is claimed and nothing is reported.

Why This Matters for Back Pay

A backdated award spanning several years is calculated in segments. Each part of the period is paid at the rate in force at the time, not at today's rate.

That is why very old arrears take longer to compute than recent ones, and why an award letter covering three years usually shows three or four lines rather than one total. Enhanced daily living was £101.75 a week in 2023/24, £108.55 in 2024/25 and £110.40 in 2025/26, so pricing a three-year period at the 2026/27 rate of £114.60 would overstate it. Comparing two years in the tool above shows the size of each step.

Why No Future Year Is Shown

Because it has not been published. Uprating figures are announced each autumn for the following April, and a rate that has not been announced cannot be stated.

The rates on this page took effect in April 2026 and stand until April 2027. Estimating the 2027/28 figures would put a number on this page that a reader might rely on for a decision about money. The tool compares years that exist instead.

What Uprating Does Not Change

The descriptors, the thresholds or the award. Uprating changes only the amount each rate pays. The 8-point and 12-point thresholds are set by regulations 5 and 6 of the PIP Regulations 2013, they are unaffected by the April change, and no review is triggered by it.

Where to Look Next

Every benefit year this site publishes runs from 2022/23 onward, and each figure is carried at the rate in force in its own year. That is the range the tool compares across; earlier years are not held here, so they are not offered.

The full rate table for every year, including the historical figures the tool uses, is on pip amounts. What uprating is, how it is decided and what it has done over time is on PIP Uprating.
