The Short Answer
PIP Back Pay Calculator UK is an independent website that gives UK PIP claimants free calculators and plain-English guidance, built so nobody needs a paid advisor to work out their own entitlement. Every rate and rule is taken from official sources, checked on a stated date, and turned into tools that produce a number in under two minutes. The site is not connected to the DWP.
Why This Site Exists
The DWP makes three questions harder than they should be: how much you can get, when you will get it, and what you are owed. The answers exist, spread across legislation, rate schedules and guidance pages. This site does the assembling, so a claimant with a phone and two minutes leaves with a number instead of a reading list.
The pip back pay calculator on the homepage is the clearest example. The backdating rules are public, the rates for every recent year are published, and the arithmetic is mechanical. Nobody should pay for that calculation, and nobody should have to do it by hand.
Who Runs It
The site is produced and maintained by the PIP Back Pay Calculator UK editorial team, working from official published sources. We are independent: not part of the DWP, not a charity, not an advice agency, and not connected to any assessment provider. The site is funded by advertising, which never influences what a calculator returns or what a guide says.
We are deliberate about what we are not. We do not give advice about individual claims, we do not sell services, and we publish organisation-level authorship rather than invented experts. Who writes and checks the content is set out openly on Who Writes and Checks Our Content.
How We Keep Figures Right
Three disciplines run through every page. First, every figure comes from an official source, never from memory: benefit rates from GOV.UK and the DWP rate schedules, descriptors and points from the PIP Regulations on legislation.gov.uk. Second, every figure carries a Last checked date recording when we verified it against that source. Third, when rates change each April, the whole site's rate data regenerates from the new publications in one step, so a stale figure cannot linger in one corner of the site.
The full rules we hold ourselves to, including how we handle corrections, are published in our Editorial and Fact-Checking Policy, with the complete source list on Our Sources.
What to Expect from the Tools
Calculators here are estimates, built on the published rules and rates. They cannot see your claim file, and only the DWP can decide entitlement; the boundary is spelled out plainly in our Disclaimer. What the tools promise instead is speed, current figures, and their working shown: every calculator states its method and sources beneath the tool.
Questions, corrections and anything we have got wrong reach us through the Contact Us page. Corrections get priority; a wrong figure on a site like this is the one failure that matters.
The site grows in planned waves rather than by volume: calculators and the core money guides first, then the assessment, appeals and condition clusters, each page held to the same checking rules before it publishes. What exists today is listed in full on the Site Directory, and every page carries the date its figures were last verified.
