The Short Answer
The Motability price list is the quarterly schedule of Scheme vehicles and the Advance Payment each one needs, and Motability updates it every 3 months, with the next list available from 1 October 2026. What changes each quarter is the Advance Payment on each vehicle, not the weekly cost: the enhanced mobility rate is exchanged in full whichever car is chosen. An existing lease is unaffected by a new list.

What Changed on the Motability Scheme in 2026?
New orders placed on or after 1 July 2026 carry a lower mileage allowance, and new car prices now include 20% VAT. Motability states: "For orders placed on or after 1 July 2026, you can drive up to 30,000 miles over three years, or 50,000 miles over five years for Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles."

On VAT, Motability states: "If you're looking for a new car on the Scheme, the price you see already includes 20% VAT." Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle prices are shown at 0% VAT, because customers may qualify for VAT relief on them.
An existing lease keeps its terms. Motability states: "If you ordered before this date, you'll keep the mileage allowance that applied when you ordered." For customers paid by Social Security Scotland, the new allowance applies later: "If you get your allowance from Social Security Scotland, the new mileage allowance applies to orders placed on or after 1 September 2026."
Do Motability Changes Affect PIP or ADP Payments?
No: a change to the Scheme's prices, mileage or VAT does not change the PIP or ADP mobility rate. The enhanced PIP mobility rate is £80.00 a week at 2026/27 rates, and the Scheme exchanges it in full whichever terms apply.

The changes alter what the allowance buys. The same weekly allowance now buys a lease with a lower mileage allowance on new orders, and the Advance Payment on each car moves with every quarterly list. The allowances that qualify are unchanged: Motability lists the enhanced rate of the PIP or ADP mobility part, the higher rate of the DLA mobility part, and "at least 12 months left" on the award.

Why Only the Advance Payment Moves
The weekly cost is the same for every vehicle on the Scheme. Motability exchanges the whole enhanced mobility component, which is £80.00 a week at 2026/27 rates, so the Advance Payment is the only financial difference between one car and another.
That makes a quarterly list a genuine event for anyone choosing a vehicle. A model at nil Advance Payment this quarter may carry one next quarter, and the reverse happens too. The lease-running changes, including the new mileage allowance, are set out in Motability Scheme Rules.
What Does Not Change
Eligibility. The Scheme requires a qualifying mobility allowance with at least 12 months of the award left to run. Motability states: "You need to have at least 12 months left on your allowance if you're applying to join the Scheme." The full rules are on the Motability scheme page.
The core of the package is also stable across lists. Motability states that every lease includes "insurance, servicing, maintenance and breakdown cover", with up to 3 drivers on the insurance. Fuel is not included; for an electric car, Motability arranges a home chargepoint or access to a public charging network.

Timing an Order
A quoted Advance Payment holds for the list it was quoted under. A price seen on the July to September 2026 list applies to that list; Motability states that "Our next price list will be available from 1 October 2026."
Where an award is under review or challenge, the timing question is different: the Scheme needs 12 months of award remaining, so a decision due within a year is worth resolving before ordering. A drop from enhanced to standard mobility takes the weekly allowance from £80.00 to £30.30 and ends eligibility for the Scheme.
